[ Ange never really feels the need to broadcast anything over the journals, as anti-social as she is and all. But today she's perhaps feeling a bit more bored or a bit more annoyed than usual, probably because of some recent arrivals. So she has actually taken the effort to speak up for once now, her voice as flat and deadpan as it always is. ]

So, people here.. how much longer are you planning on wasting your time here? Don't get me wrong, it's not like I have found any way out either, but I doubt spending our time here with parties and all sorts of similar ridiculous things is going to help us in any way. Don't tell me all of you have grown so used to this place that you're just complacent with the situation as it is now.

I definitely have no plans of sticking around here if I'd be given the choice. I have better things to do than wasting my time around here.. unlike some other people, apparently. [ a very slight sigh. ]

So I guess in the end it comes down to this.. do any of you honestly want to stick around in this bothersome place and party your days away? I suppose I'm actually a little genuinely curious.

On a different note.. if anyone has advice for avoiding certain people, I'd like to hear it.

It's only natural for people to want to be able to read minds. Humans are creatures who lie and deceive each other a lot, not to mention just keep a lot of secrets from each other in general, so everyone wants to be able to tell what the other is truly thinking. It's not all that surprising. Although.. I have never actually asked around about it before, but I doubt there are that many people who can read minds here, even though a lot of people have special powers.

... Unique..? That's a rather interesting way to describe someone.

Even now, with this ability, I don't feel as though it's natural to read minds! I feel as though I'm invading another person's privacy if I'm not reading their mind with a good reason. Inside your mind is one of the few places you're safe at times after all. Mind reading must be a rare ability across all sorts of worlds then, I-I don't think I was ever aware of anyone else in my home world who could do it.

Uhm, y-yes. [Its a nicer way of saying 'odd'!] An interesting way to describe an interesting person I suppose!

That's right, it practically is invading on other people's privacy. But I doubt a person like you would just go off and randomly use it on everyone you see, right? As long as you're responsible and only use it in cases when it's really needed, then there's no problem with it. Privacy or not.

And yeah, it's pretty rare. I've met people with quite big magical powers back in my world, but as far as I know none could read minds. As much as some liked to make it seem that way.

O-Of course not! I only use it in dire situations, like during fights. Oh, or if there's a person who possesses extremely useful information that would benefit my friends! [...] It can still be a little daunting at times, knowing that I could find out anything about a person in a second.

There were lots of individuals with magical powers in my world. Vampires, hanyous, all sorts of magical creatures, and then all the others who could cast magic too... But some people you knew liked to pretend they could read minds? Wh-Why would they do that? Were they trying to trick you?

At least you're still lucky enough that you can choose whether you want to read a person's mind or not, right? You have those stories in anime and manga or even mythology all the time about people who wanted to read thoughts, then gained the power but went completely insane since they couldn't turn it off and saw and heard people's thoughts constantly.

They weren't really trying on purpose, it was just that they were trying to seem all enigmatic and mysterious by.. well, you know, doing annoying things like constantly giving you those little knowing smiles for no reason.

[Despite being an avid bibliophile, she's never considered how mind reading plays out in other scenarios. Now she has however...] O-Oh my yes!! I'm quite thankful I have the choice! I feel just terrible for those people who can do nothing else but hear the thoughts of other people and suffer, even if they are in a novel.

O-Oh... [Those sorts of people must be annoying.] Luckily, most people I've seen who act like that generally have real mystery surrounding them to back up their actions.

Those kind of people are exactly designed to make you feel sorry for them. Because they think when you feel sorry for them, you'll learn some lesson out of it or whatever. Probably something along the lines of 'be careful what you wish for'.

Oh, believe me, the kind of people who did that who I met had some sort of mystery around them as well. I'm just saying that that kind of behaviour is extremely annoying.

Much like a fable then! I-I'm sure if people really did think through what they wished for then they would be more specific in what they say when they ask.

Hmm... I suppose acting mysterious is unnecessary when applied to real life. Some people just enjoy be evasive I guess! [Or annoying.]

But that's not even always the problem, right? No matter how carefully people word things, there are always wish granters who will find a weak spot in their wish and abuse it. There are plenty stories that go like that as well, so often I get the feeling the moral is more something like 'don't wish for anything at all' or at the very least 'don't trust wish granters'.

Enjoying to be evasive.. Yeah, that's definitely a good description for that woman. I'm sure that's where she gets her sick kicks from.

Eheh, maybe, though I'm sure not all wish granters insist on seeing through all the cracks and loopholes in each person's requests. Perhaps a better moral would be 'be happy for what you have', rather than wanting more and more.

I'm pretty sure not all of them do, although the ones that don't are mostly the fictional ones. You know, the idealistic fairy godmothers and stuff like that. The ones I've met were exactly the loopholes kind of granter.

And don't worry, that person isn't around here or she would already have said something to me. She probably wouldn't waste a chance to annoy me. Although.. there's another person I know here you should probably watch out for a little. Although I doubt she feels like toying around with anyone but me.

Th-That's terrible, I don't see why anyone would go out of their way to annoy someone! If there's someone here I should avoid then I would appreciate knowing.

Yeah, I have. I actually asked one to grant my wish, which turned out to be a pretty stupid idea in the end, so.. maybe I should have listened to those stories more when I was younger, huh? Could have prevented some pretty bothersome stuff along the way.

Her name is Bernkastel. And believe me, annoying people is what she likes to do the most, so it's better to just try to ignore her if you can. She's rather recognizable.. she looks pretty young, with long blue hair and a cat's tail.

So you've been speaking from experience then. I-I'm sorry to hear that! I think even the children who hear those sorts of stories for the first time take them for granted. The prospect of having any wish you want granted for the first time would be an overwhelming opportunity that you would have to take!

Don't worry, it's nothing to feel sorry about. That whole ordeal was mostly my own fault, as lame as it was to fall right for something like that not just once, but multiple times, even.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to spot her because of that tail. She usually wears a dark dress too. [ pause.. ] She's usually pretty open about mocking people, so recognizing her or avoiding her shouldn't be too difficult.

[Whoops on Nodoka's part for bringing up how to be more specific when making wishes and what not.] ...Well even so, I'm sure you had a very good reason for making multiple wishes with the same person, despite the consequences.
