[ There are a few slight moments of silence - perhaps, if you listen closely enough, you can hear some slight sounds of nature from the forest's edge in the background - before a girl speaks up with a quite deadpan (and calm, considering the situation) tone. ]

Am I being reduced to this again this soon already? I really must be popular with all of you witches. So, which one of you do I have the honor of dealing with this time? Bernkastel again, or even that Featherine witch? ... Either way, you can come out and start laughing now. If you're looking for your cue, this is it.

[ She pauses for a moment, as if she actually does expect someone to pop up. But when it doesn't happen, she just continues talking. ]

It's pretty inconsiderate to let someone waiting after dragging them in, you know. Although I guess I should expect as much from the lot of you.

And what's up with these wings? 'Sure, let's give her pink wings this time just to see the look on her face, ahahaha' or whatever, right? I'm not laughing, but surely you predicted as much.

... Any normal person would start to think I'm going insane by now, like I'm talking to myself. Ah.. it's useless, it's all useless. Does anyone who's not me feel like speaking up already?

[ Dangit, she trusts Bernkastel as far as she could throw her, so she doesn't even know what to think about it when she says that.. ]

Maybe I just have a terrible sense of judgement. It's more like just the fact that that sort of people keeps gathering around me, even if I have no clue why all of you seem to like to me so much. I wouldn't mind at all if you all just gave up and went to bother someone else for once.

We only bother you because you asked to be bothered. You're the one who wished for the miracle, right? Stop complaining, Ange. Isn't this what you wanted? To learn of the wonderful world of witches with your dead cousin, so that your family would come back?

Moan all you want because you put yourself in this endless cycle of repeating tragedies. I just pushed you in when you asked me to.

Weren't you the one who twisted it around in the first place, that miracle you promised me? ... Actually, yeah, that one was my fault. I should have realised what you meant from the beginning what you meant with your words.

I can't even say I mind it all that much. After all, from the moment you first found me I was already planning to jump. I just thought I could at least make myself useful for my family before I would die.

[It's at this point she puts up a filter. Not because she wants to hide, but rather because this is something only for Ange to hear and her alone. So she wants the girl to listen very closely.]

You asked me for two things. To bring your family home and to show you the true culprits. The first one I cannot do for you. No miracle will bring them back to you nor to any Ange Ushiromiya. The 7th game proved that. However, the second one I granted for you at the end of that 7th game. I even told you in red that it was true.

Ah, but you know, that's what all humans think.

"If I am going to live, I should be useful. Then I can die happily!"

Except, you know what? In this case you were better off never surviving that jump. Better off never seeking revenge. I gave you a chance and you took it, never urging you. You took it of your own volition, so pay the price of your greediness. Pay the price of the miracle you sought.

Bringing back the dead? Don't make me laugh. No miracle could do that and no magic could either. You would need to prevent them from dying in the first place. Yet not even that was possible for your pathetic family. They were just as greedy as you and they paid the price as well.

[ As much as she has still been reasonably calm up to now - sure, Bernkastel's very presence is enough to make her feel nervous, comfortable, but she has still been able to maintain her poker face fairly easily - this is where Ange feels the rage and fear and a whole other slew of emotions she can't quite make out well up in her gut. She struggles to maintain her usual facade, but it isn't quite working as well by now anymore. ]

Shut up.. I don't owe you anything anymore. You promised me something and for that goal I became your piece for a while without complaints. But all of that ended when you discarded me at the end of the fourth game! Sure, I was greedy, I wanted to see my family return to me.. but by now I've realised you can't help me with that. No miracle in the world can. So I don't have any sort of business with you anymore. I'll find my own way, my own truth. I don't need help from witches with empty promises and who are only out for their own entertainment.

... Yeah, Bernkastel, I have no intention to entertain you any further.

That's the thing you don't seem to understand Ange. You can't find your way without my help. October of 1986 on Rokkenjima is a cat box. No records of the crimes, no witnesses, no one alive. Only my power can unlock it. Or what, are you going to trust that bitch to lead you to the truth? That some day she'll write you a happy tale where everyone survives and you see your parents and brother again? Please, don't make me laugh too hard!

Or maybe you just want to erase the image of your aunt, cackling over the corpses and taking all the fortune for herself. That's fine too. Once the 7th game ends I'll be inviting you, Ange of the 6th game. I'll show you everything you could ever desire to see. Look how good I am, Ange. [ This is why Ange hates this so much - because while she hates Bernkastel's guts, at the same time (even with her bluffing) she knows that she can't find the truth on her own. She has tried and failed. But to ask Bernkastel for more or even slightly trust her again.. she can't let herself do that. Not now. ]

Oh, so what do you expect me to do now? Become all grateful all of a sudden and tell you just how sorry I am for being such a rude girl, and bow and rub my head on the carpet until I'm all forgiven? Sorry, but if you're waiting for something like that, it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Am I really supposed to believe you would tell me the truth? You just want whatever's most entertaining for you, so you'll just show me some lie, the version of the events that happened that would hurt me the most and wait for me to cry. Telling me the truth wouldn't get you anywhere, so it's pretty easy to read your exterior motives.

Your resistance is actually pretty inspiring. People like you are so much fun to watch when you break down and cry, realizing that you just fell from your highest point. You and that idiot with the ridiculous cape. No need to go down on your knees until you're ready to do by yourself. I'll look forward to the day that comes though.

[For a moment she pauses...but that silent moment is quickly replaced by laughter.]

You really have no clue what's coming. That's amazing. Yeah, this is really going to be fun for me. But you know Ange? Witches always keep a promise. ... And leave Battler onii-chan alone while we're here. [ Of course she knows that saying it is actually pretty much useless since why would Bernkastel ever pass up on entertainment. But she wants to at least have said that much. ] If you feel the need to harrass someone, I'm right here, right?

You're just in that large majority that thought I was a good witch because I offered miracles and once in a life time chances. Dirty tricks are for fakes like Battler and Beatrice, who can't even survive as a real witch off their own gameboard. For them being a witch is controlling one area and that alone. They cannot ascend beyond that level. Same for you and that dead tutor you talked with when you got lonely.

I didn't even have any intention of becoming a witch in the first place. Sure, I was probably dragged along by Maria onee-chan's enthusiasm at first because it seemed a little fun, but I never planned to do it on this level. In fact, I was pretty much ready to forget all about it until that day you called me.

[ The slightest pause. ]

As to onii-chan and Beatrice.. they're just guarding that cat box of 1986 with their 'magic'. That's all.

Even if I have to admit that he is a little unreliable at times, I at least know he only has good intentions, one way or another. Unlike you.

My intentions have always been pure. To crush that board into dust and move on to the next. I have never intended on doing anything otherwise. I'm not Battler onii-chan, so I can't claim to be able to explain all of his actions.. But it's just what I think.

Besides, you must have had a really friendly relationship with that Featherine witch considering the way you talk about her.

I told you already right? Featherine was my teacher long before many fragments were even born. She's also incredibly ancient and should have her body dusted and put in a museum, for children to point at her in wonder.

I guess I can agree on the ancient part - at least from my impression of her. When someone won't shut up using the expression 'child of man' you know they're ripe for the elderly retirement house.
